Employability & Functional Skills Lecturer (Qualified)

Based between London SE5 (Camberwell Green) and Carshalton, Surrey

£29,178pa - £38,007pa inclusive of London Weighting Allowance

Orchard Hill College is a non-residential National Specialist College for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of having delivered functional skills sessions and employability lessons, ensuring that students with a range of learning difficulties, disabilities and barriers to learning from Entry 1 to Level 2 are supported in developing work skills to enable them to enter employment.

Our Lecturers manage and direct teaching teams to ensure effective, learner-centred teaching that meets the needs of adults with special needs. This will involve consulting carers, therapists and personnel from Social Services, as well as internal colleagues. You will also work with the management team to further develop the College into a valuable resource centre for fellow professionals.

Your duties will include effective planning of teaching within designed curriculum areas, implementing appropriate assessment, objective setting, recording, reporting and evaluation of educational programmes.You will also ensure that student learning experiences meet the needs of individuals, promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning.

You must have substantial outstanding or good teaching experience with students with special needs. You must also have attained your DET (Diploma in Education and Training) qualification or an equivalent teaching qualification.
