The training provided us with extremely useful tips and techniques for working with candidates with autism. We found the session incredibly useful, helping create some clarity and calmness to a number of difficult situations, and giving us tools to identify the best ways of moving forwards with each young person.

We offer an excellent route to train as a teacher part-time whilst you work.
The programme is aimed mainly at those wanting to teach in the post-14 sector in schools or colleges.There are two programmes which are taught alongside each other:
the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (ProfGCE) and Diploma in Education and Training (DET).
The course has a specialist focus on how to teach people with special educational needs. Your study will be based around six modules, including:
- Introduction to teaching disabled learners
- Applying theory to practice
- Reflective practice
- Developing practice in teaching disabled learners
- Policy and professional practice
You will build up a portfolio of assignments during the course that will include academic essays, group projects and a reflective journal.
The ProfGCE (Level 6) is for students who have an undergraduate degree in their taught area.
The DET (Level 5) is for students who have at least a Level 3 qualification in their taught area (e.g. A levels, BTEC, NVQ).
