Age Range: 19-24
Course Dates: September 2018 to July 2019 The course takes place during term time over 36 weeks of the year
Session Times: 3 full days of 9.30am-3.00pm (1 day in College, 2 days in a work placement)
Hours per week: 16.5 hours per week (dependant on the work placement)
Number of students in each class: 8-12 students
Accreditation: E3/L2 Skills for employment , E3–L2 English, E3–L2 maths
About the Course
Entry Criteria: Students wishing to enrol on this course must have passed a literacy and numeracy entry assessment at E2–L1. No previous English and Maths qualifications above L2/GCSE grade C.
Curriculum: Skills related to work are taught within the course-these include: following instructions, Health & Safety, preparation for work, communicating with others in a work situation, working as a group and interview skills.
English and maths E3-L2 are also delivered as separate courses and an exam will be taken at the end of the academic year.
On Programme Support: As well as the teaching team delivering the course, an intensive course of work preparation and employability skills carried out by trained teachers, job coaches and supported by work place managers. Specialist support will be provided as appropriate. Maths and English qualifications will be undertaken if not already achieved to Level 2.
Outcome: Opportunities for paid employment or entry to an Apprenticeship.
