One of the groups at Beaconsfield in New Malden has been working hard on improving their Mobility, Orientation and Independence core skills in order to manage anxieties and access a constantly increasing pool of community venues.

This week the group went out to access the local sports facilities at Dickerage Sports and Community Centre, an area the students had not previously been. This was the first time this year when the group was able to go out into the community together. Muna was able to manage her anxieties and reached the halfway point with Rebecca whilst Mercy and Nadia completed the journey to explore the venue.

The trip into the community took everyone’s needs and requirements into account and the students were able to begin building on their mobility and orientation skills to access the venue with more independence in the future.
