The whole school joined together to mark Remembrance Day with Principal John Prior leading an assembly which was geared around pupil participation; asking them questions such as what 11th November is known as, what poppies represent, what the cenotaph is, and what and who the day is in remembrance of. Pupils were eager to answer questions, and were even described by Mr Prior as ‘erudite’ in their knowledge of the day.

Following an emphatic reading of John McCrae’s ‘In Flanders Fields’, which the class had learned by heart, the whole school observed the 2 minute silence. Staff noted how impressed they were by pupils’ maturity in understanding the importance of showing respect by not speaking during the 2 minutes, and every pupil earned a merit point for their behaviour.
