Following the success of our #TeamOHC in the Prudential RideLondon – Surrey 100, it would seem we have quite a group of keen cyclists across the College!
Students across our Centres have enjoyed taking part in accessible cycling schemes in their communities including a weekly cycle in Bushy Park in Richmond upon Thames. Students choose which bike they would like to ride and then they’re off! Some have been confident from the start while others have taken time to develop confidence, but the end of the academic year saw everyone really taking to the sport. These sessions not only contribute towards a healthy lifestyle and awareness of wellbeing, but give students the opportunity to socially interact with others outside of the College environment and enjoy accessing their community with friends.
One Senior Teaching Aide, Yolande, says the sessions allow students to “benefit from developing positive communication skills and enjoy going to new environments. It’s always a really fun day out!”
We’re looking forward to more cycling next term, and don’t forget, you can still sponsor #TeamOHC for their 100 mile ride here:
