Faith, one of our students from VPC in Carshalton, wanted to put her organisation skills to use in a work placement, so she went to Carshalton College to seek out experience in the admin teams. The college offered Faith some work in their office sorting paperwork, which went brilliantly that she moved on to another work placement at Carshalton Library in Westcroft Leisure Centre. This placement joined Faith's practical and organisational skills with her passion for books so it was the perfect next step for her.

The success of these placements led Faith's Lecturer to seek out a more permanent work placement nearer to Faith's home, so experience was found for her in Sutton Library. Faith successfully transferred her skills to this new placement and has developed the role to include greeting visitors and staff to the library, signing the register, collecting her volunteer badge and ensuring the children's library area is tidy and well organised.

Faith has become more confident in her work at Sutton Library, taking on tasks with increased independence and even continuing to work during college holidays, and the placement is secured for her to continue to work at the library after finishing her studies at college.

Faith's Lecturer is so proud of the progress she has made and couldn't be happier that she has found a workplace in her community that she makes an invaluable contribution to. Well done, Faith!
