It's the last day of National Apprenticeship Week so we'd love to share Claire's story.

Claire was a student at Carew Academy and after finishing her studies there she was keen to get her career in education of to a strong start. Claire applied for a role at Carew but was sadly unsuccessful, however her luck changed when her application was spotted by a member of the HR team who thought Claire would be ideal for another opportunity – a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Customer Service.

The role is varied and very busy, covering reception duties, the telephone, and administrative support for the whole of Old Town Hall, so it's a steep learning curve, but Claire has risen to the challenge and has become an integral part of the team.

Alongside her job role Claire is undertaking the theory aspects of the Apprenticeship with coursework and training sessions which she says are “really good. It's a small group which is nice and we're learning lots but having fun at the same time. Eventually I'd like to be a Teaching Assistant and I think working here is getting me on the right track. There are loads of opportunities working at Orchard Hill.”
