Local businessman, Mat Hawkins from “Of Course Collectables” in Wallington was Pod Radio’s special guest today. Mat is an expert in vintage and modern collectable toys and magazines. He arrived with a haul of amazing memorabilia and definitely brought “The Force” to Quadrant House! Students’ had a great time trying on Stormtrooper helmets and exploring the treasure chest of collectables.
Our student broadcasters/budding entrepreneurs were keen to ask Mat about his decision to set up his own business and what it is really like to be a “Toy Master”.
Mat’s favourite question was asked by Nathan: “What was the most expensive toy you have ever sold?” The students were staggered to hear that he had sold a Doctor Who figure for £800.

Simon Gale, Creative Director of the Digital School said: “It is great to see the students’ growing in confidence with each podcast and what a brilliant opportunity for them to interview the “Toy Master” himself. A massive thank you to Mat for giving up his time to support our radio station and for making it so much fun”

You can listen to the fun by tuning in to the interview via our Spreaker channel:
If you are interested in modern pop culture, you can catch up with Mat at where we will also be recording a podcast.
Mat will be returning to Pod Radio in the New Year, so stay tuned.
